About
I’m Joe McNally, author of the current Eddie Malloy Series of horse racing mystery novels. I have my first non-racing novel in progress called A Trail Of Tartan Blood and a non fiction account of experiences with the NHS called How Google Ai Saved My Life.
I worked for many years in the racing/betting industry. When I was with SiS in the late 1980s, I met Richard Pitman, former top jockey, riding mainly for the great Fred Winter.
We became friends and wrote our first novel together – Warned Off. That launched the Eddie Malloy Series, which now has 9 titles. You can find all of them in eBook format and paperback on most channels.
From 1994 until 1998 I worked in marketing and PR for Aintree racecourse. I then joined the Tote and created the original scoop6, bastardised by the Tote folks for short term profit. That was one of the reasons I left the corporate workplace for good. I was 51 and never regretted it.
I was raised the second-eldest of 15 children (two more joined us when da remarried after the death of my dear mother Betty). We grew up in a wee village in the west of Scotland called New Stevenston; it features strongly in my new novel.
I’ve lived in Surrey, Kidderminster, Liverpool and now Dunoon, by the mouth of the great River Clyde, with my wife Margy. The photo above shows my usual walking route when I can be bothered getting exercise.
I like the simplicity of this blogging platform and will write about writing, racing and anything else I find interesting. I used WordPress for many years, but they have turned to upselling at every corner.
